The $62 Trousers Everyone Is Raving About

Pumpkin Spice and everything nice! I don't know why, but that's what these pants remind me of. I originally bought them in white, and couldn't believe how amazing they were. So when I saw that Nordstrom picked them up in a few colors, I was thrilled! I was actually on the hunt for a pair that had an elastic waistband for Turkey Day comfort, but got diverted when the Rust version of these popped up in my search (they also just came out in Burgundy - need)!

I know I rave about a lot, because why would I write about something I hated, but these pants ya'll! They will change your life! One of my clients at my day job recently texted me for a work pant recommendation and I sent over the black version of these to her. I'm not kidding you when I say her exact response after receiving them was this:

" OMG - these PANTS, Vanessa! Picked them up from Nordstrom yesterday in black. Will be wearing them with a white blouse, leopard heels, and a leopard belt (If I can find one today) at Dreamforce on Monday. Totally getting them in red.. They are fabulous and they make me look like a freaking toothpick!"

^^^ Literally made my heart so happy. I love it when people give me feedback on what I'm posting or talking about, and I love it even more when they love the items just as much as I do! You really can't beat great quality, a $62 price point, and multiple color options. So needless to say, go out and get a pair -- and let me know how you like them! PS: My little leopard clutch is a must-have too - it's been a hot seller here all season, and adds the perfect amount of sass to a more simple look (insert goal post hands emoji.)

It's my birthday tomorrow! Shane has a dinner planned, but so far that's all I know. I feel like him and I haven't been to dinner together in forever, so I'm looking forward to hanging out with my hubby to be!

Hilliard Studio Method: My Weekly Workout

The holidays are coming up, and while most people are thinking about all the turkey and ham their little hearts can desire, I've got fitness on my mind. I've worked out for as long as I can remember, so this is nothing new. However, I'm getting married this year so I've kicked up the intensity and frequency of my workouts and added a new favorite to the routine!

Insert: Hilliard Studio Method. I originally heard about HSM from a few friends of mine who had attended their classes and raved about it. At the time, I was working out with a trainer and I just couldn't combine the two from a monetary standpoint. However, it still peaked my interest. When this year rolled around, I knew I needed to find something that worked for me. Something that was "easy" to keep up with, held me accountable, motivated me with results, and felt "different" each time. This was the only way I was going to see the longevity I needed before the wedding without burning out before it even happened. With that being said, another girlfriend of mine happened to bring HSM up again, and I decided to try it out with her.

I. was. hooked!! The energy in the room was electric, there were women of all ages around me who looked amazing, and I felt extremely challenged. It was the hardest class I had ever taken, but damn did it feel good!

HSM is a core-centric workout that incorporates resistance training by utilizing a combination of different modes to strengthen the core and spine. Think Pilate's with weights! That's the easiest way for me to describe it, but it's unlike any other class I've ever taken. No workout at HSM is the same, every class is different and it's challenging - pushing you to your "edge." This is a phrase you'll hear often at HSM. No matter what your skill level is, each trainer is there to help motivate you for the full 60 minutes. To put it into perspective, my entire body is usually trembling uncontrollably and just as I'm thinking about dropping to my knees for a modified version of the exercise, whoever is teaching that day will challenge me to hold that position for an extra 10 seconds. My edge has changed over the weeks, and yours will too. You become stronger, healthier, your mind is clearer, and overall you just feel powerful.

I recently got sick with a nasty cold after my bachelorette trip (Miami, you - win), and the worst part about it was that I had to take a week off from my classes at HSM. I couldn't wait to get back! What's usually the dreaded "workout" of the day, has turned into a physical and mental treat for myself. I look forward to each class, and the challenge it presents weekly.

Speaking of challenges, at the beginning of my HSM journey I had the opportunity to sit down with Liz and Clary (owners of HSM). Liz asked me what my thoughts were on cutting added sugar out of my diet and joining their fall challenge (40 classes in 10 weeks + no added sugar). The sound of this was intimidating. I didn't immediately commit, but went home and thought about it. I knew I could challenge myself to take four classes a week, but no added sugar was a whole different story. This girl loves her PSL's and a good piece of chocolate, ya know what I'm saying?!

I knew from the start that I wouldn't be able to adhere to it perfectly. I had two bridal showers, my bachelorette, and a birthday in the middle of the 10 week span. But, I loved the idea of trying to get as close to perfect as I possibly could. Y'all, it has made all the difference in this journey! I started by cutting sugar out of my coffee, which I never in a million years thought I could do. I was drinking two lattes a day that were loaded with sugar. Cutting out coffee all together just wasn't an option, so I did some research on what I could have and found a great alternative that I've stuck with. Removing just this one item from my diet, was a game changer. I think because I was starting my day with sugar, it set the precedent for the rest of the day. Now that I've eliminated that, my overall sugar cravings have gone down significantly. In addition to that, I switched from drinking liquor in a cocktail, to wine. The rest wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I was already eating relatively healthy (paleo, whole30 etc.), so it was just a matter of paying extra attention to what I was currently eating that did have sugar in it.

I have seen results in my entire body. My core is super defined, and with 6 more weeks to go until the wedding - I feel confident I may actually see a full six pack for the first time in my life. I have less cellulite in my problem area (my thighs), and I'm starting to see some muscle definition there as well! My shoulders have rounded out and I'm beginning to see toning around my triceps (also a problem area for me). Not to mention, every pair of pants I have put on in the last few weeks need to be taken in. I am swimming in them! Overall, I feel more compact and more importantly - I feel strong. I've had countless people ask me what I'm doing, and mention they can see a difference (especially in my face). HSM has helped me both mentally and physically. I feel healthier, happier, stronger, and my energy levels are significantly better! I can't wait to continue my journey with them!

Off The Shoulder Sweater Dress

Happy Friday! Woohoo, so happy it's the weekend! I've been feeling extra tired this week even though I feel like I've gotten more sleep than usual, so I'm ready for a couple days of down time!

This dress, ya'll! Ah! I'm so excited about it. It's finally feeling like fall in Charlotte, so I'm starting to get good use out of my warmer clothes. I happened to pop into Anthropologie while they were having a sale a couple weekends ago, and this just miraculously ended up at home with me shortly afterwards. Funny how that happens, huh? Anyway, I could go on and on about how cozy and comfortable it is, but what I think is most appealing about it - is the fact that it can also be worn as a cowl neck dress. I know the off the shoulder style doesn't appeal to everyone, so the versatility this offers makes it a great choice for your fall wardrobe. Not to mention, at a little over $100 (I paid under $100 during the sale), the quality can't be beat. Holy soft! I wish all my clothes felt that good.
Okay, don't judge - but I'm planning on putting up some of our Christmas decorations this weekend! Anddd I'm really excited about it. I asked a lot of you when you wanted to start seeing holiday posts, and you unanimously said now. So, duty calls - haha. I hope ya'll have something fun planned for the weekend, too!

Mauve Sweater Dress

Mauve Sweater Dress // OTK boots (mine are last seasons, linked similar) // Louis Vuitton Neverfull // Cocktail Ring // Earrings

Eeeek, it's November! I can't even tell ya'll how happy that makes me. November is one of my favorite months. It's my birthday month, Thanksgiving and Black Friday occur, AND it means Christmas is almost here! So much to look forward too.

I wore this sweater dress in New York when we went to visit Shanes family for our bridal shower weekend! The temperatures were actually unusually warm for upstate New York in October, but still a lot cooler than the Carolina's, so it was perfect! I actually ended up liking it so much, that I ordered the gray one as well! It's really soft, fits true to size, and looks so cute with over the knee boots! I'm going to add a skinny belt to the gray one to sinch in the waist a little bit. This helps to give more of an hourglass shape to the look! Unfortunately, my boots are from last season - I just can't part ways with them, so I linked a similar pair.

Halfway to the weekend! We don't have plans yet, which I'm really embracing right now since the last few months have been maybem on the weekends.

XO.

Thanksgiving Dinner Outfit: Room For Leftovers

Well hello Monday, we meet again. Per usual, I'm like 3 weeks behind in posting this outfit from Vermont - but what else is new, I'm just embracing the latency at this point. Furthermore, it's too good to get left behind and as much as I envy all you "in the moment" people, I work best when I've had time to collect my thoughts. Like, 3 weeks time. Okay, exaggerating -- but if you've been following along you know this is nothing new this year.

Anyway, with Thanksgiving right around the corner it's time to shift gears towards all the comfy yet cute outfits that let you fill your tummy until it can't be filled anymore. I like to call this one "room for leftovers." I mean thank god for yoga pants and elastic waistbands. A poncho is also the perfect disguise for that food baby Thanksgiving always likes to bestow upon us. I know you know what I mean! It's also incredibly warm without being restricting, which is key in my opinion. Having lived in Florida for eight years, means anything below 60 degrees feels cold to me. It also means, I've never been a big jacket person - so a poncho is the perfect happy medium. I wore a simple thermal like this one underneath it, and paired it with my all time favorite leggings. I own 3 pairs of these leggings and  they hold up perfectly. If you don't own a pair, do yourself a favor and snag them here. You'll see what I mean when you put them on. Worth it!

Shane and I took a trip down to Windy Hill Orchard and indulged in another apple cider donut with friends this weekend. Not on the wedding diet, I know. But if you're local to Charlotte and want something fun to do on a Saturday, they play live music and have a cute little outdoor seating area! Both of us love all things fall, so we've basically been chasing all the fall vibes our little hearts can take on the weekends until it's too cold to be outside anymore!

Free People Striped Tee

This top and these jeans are everything, ya'll! I wore this outfit back in Vermont, and got a ton of compliments on it but the top sold out almost immediately so I'm just getting around to talking about it now that it's been restocked! The top is super stretchy and tucks into jeans perfectly! The sleeves are what truly brings it to life for me, and it's under $60. I'm also really excited that flare jeans are back. These are inexpensive and perfect to pair with pointed toe heels. My scarf is from last season, but due to it's popularity and price point - it's back again this year! Yay! During fashion week back in February, I was on the hunt for a belt that looked similar to the Gucci one everyone raves about but at a less expensive price point. Insert this one! It comes in two colors, and is half the price of it's designer version. Yes, it's still expensive but if you sign up for e-mails or purchase from the Tory Burch store - you can get $50 off around your birthday month! If you can't wait that long, it's an investment piece. A belt is somethig that's never going to go out of style and can be worn with any outfit. Treat yourself!

On another note, I've come down with a cold! I'm pretty sure my entire bridal party is down for the count with the same thing after this past weekend in Miami. I tried out the Medicine Ball drink from Starbucks which helped me feel better for a little while, but it was short lived! Do you guys have any other home remedy suggestions for getting over a cold? I try to avoid the doctor as much as possible, so any tips are appreciated! xoxo.
