"Be Nice" Tee & Jeans

Another weekend down in the books, and it's almost August! Can ya'll believe that? I feel like this year is flying by, but then again - I also feel like I say that every year. I saw this top recently and was drawn towards it for a number of reasons. One, because who doesn't love a good tee and jeans on the weekends? And two, because the message resonated with me.  Someone once brought up to me that they had watched a movie where what you were thinking was placed above your head, and visible for everyone to see. We got on the topic of how that would totally change the world we live in today, and probably force people to be nicer. I talked about this on Instagram a little bit this weekend, but shortly after I posted that photo I found myself in the same situation at a local ice cream shop. Two girls on the other side of the window, staring so obviously it was uncomfortable - and then talking about me and my part time assistant to each other. They were in their very early twenties and probably home from college. I don't know what they were saying, but by the expression on their faces and their body language, it wasn't nice. In Seattle, Bailey and I were taking blog pictures at Pike Place market and the same thing happened repeatedly, except that time it was passive aggressive so they could make sure we heard them. I see women tearing other women down on the Internet more often than I see them lifting each other up. It's not just me, it's happening everywhere. What if we all walk around like people can read thoughts above our heads? Wouldn't we want them to be positive? Where is the negativity stemming from? Personally, the reward and joy I get from making just one person a day smile or happy, far outweighs how being nasty towards others feels. So if you're reading this, do something nice for someone today. It doesn't have to be big, but shell out a compliment to a stranger, smile to someone who looks like they could use a smile, buy the person in line behind you at Starbucks a coffee, be grateful for those around you, offer to help someone who you know needs help or tell someone they are beautiful. If every person who follows me here made an effort to do just one nice thing every day, that's 100,000 good deeds a day. Lead by example, and imagine what kind of change we could see. Be kind, be humble, be you.

PS: If you don't own a pair of these jeans, I highly recommend them in any wash! I have them in white as well, and they are hands down my favorite jeans. They fit true to size, have Lycra in them, don't stretch out, and wash well! I am eyeing the darker wash for fall!

The Brazilian Court Hotel Review: Palm Beach

Tie Front Blouse // High Rise Busted Skinny Jeans // Embellished Slide Sandals // Delsey Luggage // Earrings

Hi friends! Today I'm chatting about one of our most recent adventures to the Brazilian Court Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida! I joke with my family that I'm continuing my "tour de beaches" series this summer with all these tropical destinations! It's no secret that my favorite type of vacation is one that involves the sun, sand, and turquoise water. So, when we had the opportunity to check out the Brazilian Court - I was thrilled. Below you will find a complete review of our weekend!

The Rooms: The hotel offers a variety of room types. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with a den here! It was just Bailey and I in the room, and we had plenty of space! This is actually one of the biggest rooms her and I have stayed in together thus far, which was nice to experience. Each room is designed in classic Spanish Colonial decor including mahogany furniture, imported fabrics, crown molding and warm color palettes. The room had a large walk in shower, a full sized tub, and a floor length mirror which was handy for getting ready!

Dining: The Brazilian Court Hotel is home to Cafe Boulud, Chef Daniel Boulouds award winning restaurant. Cafe Bouloud serves up a variety of modern French cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had lunch at the restaurant, which was hands down my favorite meal of the trip! I ordered the risotto and added shrimp to it, while Bailey ordered the chefs special, which was a light white fish (delicious). The drinks here were also worth talking about! I'm a big Cosmo girl, and they recommended their white cosmopolitan, which comes with a beautiful ice cube shaped in a sphere complete with a violet flower inside of it (pictured above). It was almost too pretty to drink! All around, the service was fantastic, the food was spectacular, and the experience was flawless. If you're visiting Palm Beach, make a reservation to check this place out! They are also the hotels provider for in-room dining and pool side eats - we tried both and were not disappointed.

Service: The Brazilian Court seamlessly executes service, making you feel like the most important guest in the hotel. I think our most memorable moment with service was being chauffeured to and from the beach in the hotels complimentary Escalade. A member of the hotel staff (Marcus, who was awesome) set up beach chairs and umbrella for us upon arrival, and carried our complimentary hotel beach bags stocked with towels and cold waters! Hello, celeb status.

Grounds: Lush tropical courtyards, Spanish Colonial architecture, and pretty fountains are what you can expect to see around you at The Brazilian Court. Crews are working around the clock to ensure plants have water, chairs have towels perfectly placed, and that pool decks are washed off and clean. You can tell the hotel takes great pride in keeping the grounds tidy! Keep in mind this property is 92 years old, and modeled after a Palm Beach estate home. It is the second oldest hotel on the island and served as a big hangout in the 40's and 50's for celebrities and their mistresses.

The Hepburns, The Kennedy's, Sofia Vergara, and a Bravo TVs Real Housewives star have all indulged in a stay at the Brazilian Court Hotel, and I see why! If you're looking for a boutique hotel, lots of personality, and a luxury experience - give this place a look.

Suede Moto Jacket from the Nordstrom Sale

Happy Monday from Seattle! I'm excited to share one of my favorite finds for fall from the Nordstrom Sale this year. This is my third year covering the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and despite the tech hiccups, I found some really great deals on items that are perfect for the upcoming fall season. I'm such a summer person, that sometimes it's hard for me to shift gears in July and start thinking layers, muted tones, and suede - but, this look is classic and one I repeat all fall long. All of the items in this outfit are what I would consider "wardrobe staples." The ribbed tee can be paired under a cardigan, oversized scarf, jacket, or by itself, and goes with everything due to it's neutral color. This was my first time buying Madewell jeans, and I don't know why I waited so long because I'm in love! They are a 10" high rise so they come up right to my belly button which I like. They do run a little big though, so I recommend sizing down one size. I also really like the rust colored buttons, it's a nice compliment for fall and looks cute paired with the short waisted jacket. I've owned moto jackets of all versions for years now, and don't plan on stopping anytime soon! They're warm but not too bulky, good quality so they hold up perfectly over time, and the cropped cut is flattering in terms of elongating your legs. This is my third color, and I'm loving the olive! Booties are something I never have enough of, I'm always trying to pair the color of my top with the same color bootie (guess it's the OCD in me), so adding to the collection can never hurt. Most of what I already own are round toed, so these were a nice change and I love the color!

The sunnies I have on are probably my favorite buy from the sale! I bought my first pair of Gucci sunglasses back in college and guarded them like my most prized possession. After a few years after I bought them, a woman on a paddle board in Aruba knocked me over and I ended up losing them in the ocean! I was so beat up over it, but ever ended up buying another pair. Well, the exact same glasses were part of the sale this year and you better believe I scooped those up before anything! Always such a good feeling.

I'm in Seattle for just a couple more days before heading home! We've gotten so lucky with the weather this go around. It's been 80+, no humidity and full sun the entire trip, definitely a nice break from 100 degrees and 100% humidity at home but I sure do miss my sweet pup and husband!

2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

One of the most anticipated sales of the year is finally here (the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale), and today I'm taking you into the dressing room with me for a good old fashion dressing room diaries post! I know it's not the prettiest post, but you get the idea! I'll be updating and posting new ways of styling these items in the coming days as well.

This year I flew out to Seattle to shop the sale a day before Early Access begins and this girl is exhausted, ya'll! We spent a total of 8 hours in Nordstrom sifting through all the new goodies - insane, I know. But with that being said, we found lots of great deals and I'm excited to show you my top picks.

Keep in mind that sizes in popular items tend to sell out on the first or second day of early access, so if you're interested in something I recommend jumping on it so you don't miss out. We already noticed sizes selling out, and the sale technically hasn't started yet to the majority of the public! I have learned my lesson on this the hard way in years past. Let's get started!
